Abstract
The bactericidal effect of antibiotics may be defined by its speed and function of killing bacteria. In order to study this problem, The author has developed two "in vitro" models. The first is a static model which provides the killing curves at different antibiotic concentrations. The second is a dynamic model which reproduces the pharmacokinetic of antibiotics. In the static model, the bactericidal effects of seven aminoglycosides(Kanamycin, Tobramycin, Sisomicin, Amikacin, Gentamicin, Netilmicin, and Lividomycin) were studied against E. coli ATCC 25922. Sisomicin showed the best activity while tobramycin the least. In the dynamic model the bactericidal effects of aminoglycosides were studied against three strains: E. coli ATCC 25922, P. aeruginosa ATCC 27853 and S. aurous ATCC 25923. These results established sisomicin was the best or one among the best antibiotics.
